|Randy Newman's "I Love L.A." is sometimes criticized as being less about the metropolitan region being particularly great and more about looking satirically at our ignorance of some of the less glamorous areas. We disagree. Imperial Highway, Century Boulevard, Victory Boulevard, Santa Monica Boulevard, and 6th Street are not places to avoid, but places to embrace. L.A. is not just beautiful celebrities at the beaches, but thirteen million fascinating people from all walks of life in natural, suburban, and urban environments that seamlessly blend into each other across five thousand square miles. We love L.A. because of its geographical, socioeconomic, and cultural diversity.
